St. Patrick’s Day has long been celebrated in the U.S. as a day to wear green, drink beer and celebrate Irish culture – or at least Irish music and a few stereotypes. But what if St. Patrick’s Day in Boulder could be about more than silly hats and bar crawls? Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
First, instead of focusing on beer and spirits, we need to find the true spirit of the holiday with a careful, educated analysis of the facts…
Leprechauns have a pot of gold, not a beer of gold or even a schläger of gold. They also wear green and smoke pipes.
Our thorough analysis complete, it becomes clear that St. Patrick’s Day isn’t about drinking at all. It is a celebration of pot (of gold), green and the smoking of pipes. But with this new and clearly more accurate understanding of the holiday, you may not be sure about things to do in Boulder or how to celebrate this March 17th.
The following 9 tips have been developed by scientists from around the world – or at least by a blogger in Boulder – and can help you find your pot (of gold) so you can get properly green and high on St. Patrick’s Day.
1. Eat a Rainbow (of Edibles)
Karing Kind is Boulder’s first recreational marijuana dispensary, and we stock a wide range of edibles, from chocolates, cookies and beverages to colorful candies, gummies and suckers. Create your own edible rainbow and eat your way to a good St. Patrick’s Day.
Whenever consuming marijuana edibles, you should exercise caution and can better control your high by giving each dose or serving up to two hours to take effect before consuming more.
2. Find a Pot of Gold-tinged Bud
We don’t sell pots of gold, but we do offer a variety of golden strains with red-orange hairs like a leprechaun. Choose a sativa with a soaring head high, helping you navigate intoxicated pub-goers with a smile on your face.
3. You Can Drink If You Want To
You can’t spell “scotch” without THC… except, you know, the letters are in a different order. If drinking has always been your favorite part of St. Patrick’s Day, you can stock up for the 17th by shopping our selection of infused drinks, including dissolvable THC you can add to your favorite beverage.
As with edibles, you should always follow recommended serving suggestions when consuming marijuana infused drinks and give each dose time to take effect. Infused drinks should not be used for drinking games as the pace and competition can lead to over-consumption and cause significant discomfort or distress that may require medical attention.
4. Don’t Smoke Clovers
Sure, smoking clovers sounds like a great way to combine your love of smoking with your favorite St. Patrick’s Day symbol. But unless you enjoy feeling ill and regretting your decisions, we wouldn’t recommend it. Instead of smoking clovers, pick up clean-grown marijuana flower from Karing Kind, including top-shelf bud or, for the budget-minded, $48 ounces of shake.
5. Visit Conor O’Niell’s for the “World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade”
Covering only two blocks, Conor O’Niell’s has long boasted the world’s shortest St. Patrick’s Day parade. And while there are several other cities – including one in Ireland – that make the same claim, driving a few minutes in Boulder seems easier and cheaper than flying across the Atlantic Ocean. And while you’re out, you can stop by Karing Kind to look through our stock of popular and hard-to-find strains, pure extracts, and beautiful, locally made glass pipes.
6. Smoke with a Domer
Whether you love or hate the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, finding a “Domer” to to get high on St. Patrick’s Day can serve as an effective substitute if you don’t have any friends who are actually Irish. Be advised that he or she will ask if you own Rudy at least twice.
7. Create a Shillelagh Bong
No, it won’t be easy. But if you are successful, you will officially win St. Patrick’s Day.
8. Banish Things that Aren’t There
You may have heard the legend that St. Patrick banished the snakes from Ireland. But naturalists agree: there were never any snakes in Ireland for St. Patrick to banish. So in the spirit of St. Patrick, every time you take a hit banish something that isn’t there. Your roommate’s at work? Wrong, you banished him. You ran out of waffles? Nope. You banished the last of them this morning.
Remember to visit Karing Kind to stock up on recreational cannabis before the holiday or you might accidentally end up banishing your supply of marijuana.
9. Enjoy Happy Hour
Happy hour isn’t just for cheap beers and appetizers anymore. Stop by Karing Kind from 9-10am or 7-10pm every day of the week for happy hour specials on your favorite strains, concentrates, and edibles.
Karing Kind is located just off of US-36, one mile north of Broadway, open daily from 9am to 10pm.
