Disposable vaporizers, vapes that use preloaded cartridges, raw concentrate vape pens… how can you choose the right option for you? And once you find your pen, how can you get the most out of it?
Whether you’re new to the world of vaping, you’re in the market for a new pen, or you just have a few vape pen FAQs, let’s look at the top options available at your local recreational marijuana dispensary: their pros, cons, and how to use them.
Karing Kind Labs Disposable Vape Pens
Available in Sativa, Indica, and Hybrid, the Karing Kind Labs disposable vape pens are the simplest option if you’re new to vaping or constantly on the go.
Coming in at a low price point and preloaded with Karing Kind CO2 Gold Oil, these disposables are ready to use out-the-door.
- Great way to try vaping and see if you like it.
- Use it til the oil is gone, then toss it in the trash or recycling.
- Low cost, so no big deal if you lose it or get in a fight with Donnie Yen while it’s still in your pocket.
- Not reloadable.
- Not the most cost-effective option if you vape frequently.
How to Use It:
Just inhale. No buttons. No charging necessary. No messing with refills.
Karing Kind Labs Reusable 5:10 Thread Battery & Vape Cartridges
Our priority has always been on giving our customers the smoothest, cleanest vape pen possible. If we wouldn’t give it to our family, we wouldn’t sell it to our customers. That means ditching the harsh ignition and wicking systems, developing cartridges without glue or synthetic adhesives, and a pen that’s designed to work with Karing Kind Gold Oil, extracted using only natural CO2 for greater purity and flavor.
And the 5:10 cartridges are easy to load or swap out, giving you control over what you’re vaping without having to clean out your pen every time you want to try a new oil.
- Simple refills with prefilled cartridges or empty carts you can fill with your favorite oils.
- Easy to change out to a new oil without having to finish the previous concentrate or deep clean your pen.
- Reusable and rechargeable for cost-effective vaping.
- Common cartridge thread size and preloaded Karing Kind CO2 Gold Oil carts (high THC or CBD) give you more concentrate options than pens with exclusive cartridge designs (like the PAX).
- Not designed for use with raw concentrates, wax, or shatter.
- Preloaded cartridges are convenient but can be a little more expensive than refilling on your own.
How to Use It:
Make sure your pen is charged and on and you have your desired cartridge screwed in. Hold the button down the whole time you inhale for a hotter, throatier hit, or tap the button and release every 1-2 seconds to control the temperature.
Yocan Raw Concentrates Vaporizer Pen
For the steady concentrate consumer who wants the ease of a vape pen without limiting their concentrate options, the Yocan offers a top-tier solution at an affordable price.
Each Yocan vape pen can be loaded with your choice of raw concentrates, including oil, shatter, wax, rosin, and more, so you never have to compromise your tastes. And because each Yocan vaporizer can also use 5:10 thread cartridges, you still have access to the ease-of-use you’ll find in vaporizers like the Karing Kind Labs pen.
- Works with raw CO2 oil, butane oil, wax and shatter, giving you more control over your vaping experience and an undiluted, more satisfying hit.
- Also works with 5:10 thread cartridges for greater convenience and flexibility.
- Access to raw concentrates, preloaded cartridges, and refillable carts.
- Reusable, rechargeable, and built to last – this can be your “forever pen”.
- Larger Yocan model includes a concentrate cubby at the bottom for on-the-go storage.
- Higher price point makes the Yocan better suited for experienced concentrate consumers.
How to Use It:
Make sure your pen is charged and on. Add your desired concentrate to the dual coil reservoir or screw in your full 5:10 cartridge. Hold the button down the whole time you inhale for a hotter, throatier hit, or tap the button and release every 1-2 seconds to control the temperature.
Vape Pen FAQs
How can I load raw concentrates for the smoothest hit?
If you’re using raw concentrates in the Yocan, place the oil near but not on the coil if you can. This will allow the heat to melt the oil so it can drip into the atomizer without burning it. Don’t worry if you can’t get a nice dab of oil exactly where you want. You’re smoking weed, not performing surgery. The pen will still work fine. And – just like rolling a joint – it takes a little time and practice to find out what works for you.
Keep in mind that the first time you use your pen it may take a few seconds before the heating elements are “seasoned” and the oil melts into the atomizer.
How do I know if the pen is on or off?
Can’t remember if you turned off your pen after you last used it? If the button lights up when you press it, then your pen is on. Just tap the button rapidly 5 times to turn it on or off again.
When I hold the button down the hit is sometimes too harsh.
Most button-activated vape pens are designed to be held for up to 20 seconds, but that amount of time will produce a lot of vapor and heat. Instead of holding the button in for 5-10 seconds at a stretch, try “vape surfing” – powering your vape pen in 2-3 second bursts – so you can better control the temperature.
Think of the button like the carb on your favorite bowl. You can press on the carb the whole time you are inhaling or you can cover and uncover the carb to exercise greater control over how the weed hits.
How good is Karing Kind CO2 oil?
Karing Kind CO2 Gold oil is a pure, powerful extract while offering cool, flavorful hits with almost none of the usual irritations or harshness of other non-organic, solvent based hashes. Certainly if you hold the heat down too long or inhale too much you may still get a harsher hit. But this is harder to do than you might think.
How do I clean my vape pen?
Over time you may notice a buildup of oil in or around your vape pen. You likely have oil on your prep tool as well. If your bowl or tool are starting to get too dirty for comfort – or practical use – heat up the coil then run your tool around the edges of your bowl to collect any usable oil that may have gathered too far from the coils. Next, take an alcohol wipe and rub the tool and edges of the ceramic bowl clean. Do NOT touch the coil!
Does Karing Kind have a vape pen for marijuana flowers?
We don’t currently sell any vape pens designed to vaporize marijuana flower, but we do offer a variety of Boulder-blown glassware, one-hitters, and rolling papers if you prefer flower to concentrates.
Now that you have your pen and you know how to use it, it’s time to stop reading this post and start vaping. Still have a few vape pen FAQs? Stop by our location in North Boulder and speak to one of our award-winning budtenders.
