The Difference Between Oil, Shatter and Wax

Cannabis Oil, Shatter and Wax – What’s the Difference?

If smoking Lemon Diesel bud is like reading Lord of the Rings, taking a hit of Lemon Diesel CO2 oil is like quitting your job to start LARPing. As the name suggests, concentrates “concentrate” the psychoactive compounds in marijuana like THC and CBD. Much like Puff Daddy, concentrates have gone through a long list of names – wax, shatter, honeycomb, budder, sap or oil. But what are concentrates, really? And what is the difference between oil, shatter and wax?

A cannabis oil extract is any oil with highly focused THC and CBD (often higher than 75%). The extraction process can be completed through a variety of methods or solvents, and many discerning smokers have pushed for healthier, natural alternatives to the commonly used butane. Fortunately, advancements in technology have allowed for the use of clean solvents like carbon dioxide to provide for a safer and better tasting vape experience.

Karing Kind CO2 Cannabis Oil

At Karing Kind, we developed our very own vape pen and chemical-free CO2 cannabis oil to give you the cleanest, healthiest vaping experience you could ask for. Unless you’re sharing your vape pen with strangers, but that’s your own fault. The oil is sticky like sap, so you don’t have to worry about it shifting around in your vape pen while you’re on the go. This semi-transparent and highly potent concentrate comes in standard sativa, indica and hybrid as well as strain-specific oils like our Lemon Diesel Oil. Find out why our CO2 oils are our most popular concentrate, and pick up your own at for just $70 per gram.

Bolder Extracts BHO Wax

Marijuana Wax Concentrate

In addition to our in-house CO2 oil, we are proud to stock Bolder Extracts high grade BHO wax. The wax carries a similar potency to cannabis oil, but it is created by whipping the hash oil during the purging process. Wax carries a similar consistency to earwax, but we don’t call it that for obvious reasons. Some concentrate enthusiasts claim wax can be more flavorful but occasionally less potent than standard oil (though we sell strain-specific product ranging from 70-92%). Some might say you should try both and decide for yourself which you like more. Probably not at the same time, though. That would be irresponsible.

Bolder Extracts BHO Shatter

Marijuana Shatter Concentrate

Sometimes you just want to smoke something that feels like glass and looks like John Hammond could make a dinosaur out of it. Shatter is an amber-colored, transparent thing of beauty with a reputation for being stronger than the other concentrates. But, just like attractive people and diamonds, we tend to overestimate the value of pretty things. Shatter can be easier to handle than oil, and there’s something satisfying about vaporizing and inhaling amber glass, but that’s where the bonuses end. You won’t get a different, better or stronger high than with cannabis oil or wax.

We are committed to providing clean, natural concentrates for our customers, and Bolder Extracts surpasses all industry-mandated guidelines in the quality and frequency of their product testing.
